Galvanized Face Lift

Planter option

On one of my recent trips to the thrift stores, there were several galvanized planter pails from a floral shop that had apparently gone out of business. One was a great size for an umbrella pail. I snatched it up and headed home with plans to give it a face lift with some chalkboard spray paint I had left over from another project.

This was it in it's original state.

To give it some personality and usefulness, I masked off a wide band around the top with painters tape.

This is hardly an original idea, but it sure is a popular one! So, why not add it to the booth as well?

Then I took some plastic and covered the areas outside the band to prevent paint from getting on it.

Lastly, I pulled off the tape and used plain white chalk to age it and to write "Welcome".

I started to write "Umbrellas", but thought it would have greater appeal in the booth if it just said "Welcome" and the buyer was left the option of how they wanted to use it. What would you use it for?

Umbrella option...not that we've needed it much lately!

  3. Glad you guys liked it! This is literally a five minute project. Me likey! I debated on the boots in the picture because if you look close, you'll see spraypaint overspray! Gee...wonder what I do with those besides work in the garden?!
